How Does Ichthammol Work?
Ichthammol and zinc oxide are among frequently used local dermatological medication in children (with regard to its safety even when applied long-term). Ichthammol (ichtamol) is a mixture of ingredients obtained by the sulphonation of bituminous oils. Traditionally, it was obtained by the distillation of fossil slate. Does not cause itchiness or inflammation. It is ceratoplastic, antiseborrheic and mildly antiseptic. It is slightly irritating, has low sensitizing potential, does not desensitize the skin when exposed to light. However, it has an unpleasant distinct odor and a brown-black color. Ichthammol is used in the treatment of sub-acute forms of eczema (mainly atopic), seborrheic and perioral dermatitis, for acute appearances of psoriasis, lichen ruber planus, pityriasis rosea and for acne vulgaris. Ichthammol has a similarly favorable curing effect as pix lithantracis (coal tar), without its undesired side effects (toxic influence on the liver and kidneys, local carcinogenicity when used long-term in higher concentrations).

How Does Zinc Oxide Work?
Zinc oxide (zinc blossom) is an amorphous, gentle, white, odor-free powder. It is obtained from natural, zinc material. The effects are: cooling, slightly astringent and slightly antiseptic. Zinc oxide is part of the powders, suspensions, liquid powders and soft paste categories, which are frequently used in children’s dermatology. Zinc oxide has soothing effects and significantly fosters skin’s rejuvenation. Zinc products also have a favorable impact on the healing process.

How to Use Cutozinc Ichtamo spray:
Shake well before using the product! Spray a thin, equal layer on carefully cleaned and dried skin. Ideally use medicinal antiseptic soap without sodium lauryl sulfate (for example Cutosan® wash gel) for cleaning the skin. Spray at a distance of approx. 5-10 cm. It is not necessary to apply in two layers. The spray works effectively after only applying one layer. If needed, rub into the skin. The affected skin is often irritated and painful. Therefore, it is better to not touch the affected areas too often. Use on the entire affected area several time per day as needed. The care has to not only be long-term but also regular. A slight dryness of the treated areas is part of the effects, therefore, we recommend combining it with regular treatment of emolliences (for example, Calcis®). Clean the nozzle after every application!
Warning:
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If there is no improvement in the skin’s condition or if irritation of the skin appears, stop using the spray and consult your physician. Do not use in case of allergies or hypersensitivity to any of the product’s ingredients.
Storage and Transportation Conditions:
Store at a temperature of 15 to 25 °C. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep in its original package. Do not use the product once the expiration date stated on the box and the bottle.
